About 9 years ago, my mother and I bought a few dog treat recipe books and went to work. My mother and I would make a full meal for the dogs on their birthdays, right down to the peanut butter and carob cake. It then became a hobby for me to create my own treats on a regular basis.

Dogs were always a very important part of our family. Growing up, it was Brandy and Frosty; Siberian Husky's, and Sandy; a little Cocker Spaniel. Then we had Nikki. Nikki was a Husky as well, but she was a strange bird to say the least - but loved just the same as all our dogs.
Since I grew up with large breed dogs, it was natural that my first puppy was also a large breed.

Growing up, I had this friend who owned the most beautiful Golden Retriever named Cane. He was the most loving dog I had ever seen. Cane made me fall in love with the breed, so when it was time to get my own dog, I found Faith. Faith was a caramel colored Golden Retriever with a heart of gold. She was a protector at heart and such a great dog.

My parents loved Faith so much, that they decided to find a Golden of their own. They decided to name her Liberty. She looks just like Faith did, and reminds me of her all the time. My mother also rescued a little "tea cup" Yorkie Poo. Only thing is… she's not a tea cup! Weighing in at 20 lbs., Belle is far from the runt. She thinks that she is a Golden and is the security in our house! You don't want to mess with Belle!

So…as you can see, we are a family driven by our love for our animals and our commitment to feeding them only the best foods. It's always been a thought of mine to create a business of this nature, but Gracie Lou Freebush was the spark I needed to make it a reality!

My inspiration's name is Gracie Lou Freebush.

Yes, her name IS Gracie Lou Freebush!

I named her after Sandra Bullock's character in
Miss Congeniality!

She completely lives up to her name too!

Gracie Lou is a character all her own! She never stops making all of us laugh, she trips over her feet all the time, she never stops eating, she gets involved in everyone’s business and she has a heart of gold!
